Snap and Store Box

After making a couple of quick test prints using the Proofgrade Medium Draftboard, I wanted to attempt something a little more complex.

One of the free designs on the Glowforge app homepage was this neat little Snap and Store Box. I decided to jazz it up a little with some botanical patterns and personalise it with some handwriting.

Personalising the top with a handwritten element.

Personalising the design for the top part was as easy as printing the provided template on a4 paper, handwriting on the printed design and popping it inside the Glowforge to scan and digitise the image.

Once cut and engraved, the pieces snap together for a no-glue assembly.

I’m in love with these botanical patterns. I ended up doing the cut and engraving in two stages, but if I was to do it again it’d be just as easy to set up the design so that it’s all done in one pass.

The lid sits in a neat recess at the top of the box.

It was a little bit of a tedious task trying to remove a million tiny pieces of masking tape from the front surfaces of the patterned pieces of plywood. But no regrets – the end result looks great, and I was really impressed at the way it all snapped together.
